About Yield On Spend
If the spending is unavoidable, the return should be deliberate.
If you’re running a business or a busy household and putting serious money on credit cards every month, there’s a good chance you’re leaving meaningful value on the table.
Not because you’re doing anything particularly wrong. Because most people haven’t taken the time to build a strategy around money they’re already spending.
That’s what Yield On Spend is about.
What you’ll find here
I write about getting better returns from everyday spending without turning credit card rewards into a second job.
That includes:
Smarter card strategies: Which cards and rewards programs deserve your spending, and which aren’t worth the trouble.
Real-world redemptions: What flights and hotels actually cost in points, what they’re worth in real dollars, and when paying cash makes more sense.
Business and household spending: How to earn more from purchases you’re already making.
Mistakes and lessons learned: What I’ve tried, what worked, and what I’d do differently.
Keeping it manageable: Systems that capture most of the available value without requiring constant attention.
Who’s behind this?
I’m Christian Miller. I own businesses, have an MBA, and have been involved with points and miles since my early days traveling regularly for work.
Over the past year, I’ve generated approximately $25,000 in realistic travel value through my own spending and rewards strategies.
I’ll also admit that I have more credit cards than I’d recommend to most people. I’ve experimented with different programs, combinations, and strategies. Some have produced excellent results. Others have added complexity without much additional return.
That’s part of what I bring to this publication. I’ve done quite a bit of the testing so you don’t have to.
A note on how I write
The experiences, strategies, calculations, and opinions in Yield On Spend are my own. I use AI to help organize my thoughts, improve readability, and clean up my writing. Think of it as an editor, not the author. The decisions, mistakes, and lessons are mine.
Who should subscribe?
Yield On Spend is written primarily for business owners and professionals with meaningful spending who want practical returns, not another hobby to manage.
I generally publish twice a month, sharing actual numbers, practical examples, and straightforward conclusions.
